How or where did you first hear about Burning Man? |
I heard about Burning Man around 1998 when I stumbled on Donald Davis's web site featuring his space art. He had a link to his yearly Burning Man stories with pictures. I knew I had to go someday. |
Volunteered with: |
2008 BM Census Keypunchers. Probably do it again in 2009. |
What would you do differently if you could go back in time from a past Burning Man experience: |
My first burn was in 2008 (American Dream). My second burn was in 2009 (Evolution). Wouldn't change anything. It was all part of the experience. Loved the whiteouts and absorbing the playa, literally, through every pore of me. Every burn has been a first burn for me. Something new every time and I wouldn't want that to ever change. |
Where are you from? Where have you lived? |
I came from the desert. Now I live there in Arizona. I lived in the deep south for many years and that was enough for this life time. I've lived in Texas and that was enough for this life time too. |
All About You |
Usually quiet and can come off as a little anti-social or a stick in the mud until I get to know someone and they get to know me or I have someone or something that brings me out earlier :) I am very open minded about almost anything. I don't mind you having your opinions and I will listen and appreciate them intently but don't try to go evangelical or I will probably go cold. I like to help and support others do whatever they are doing. |

Top 10 reasons to go to Burning Man:
(or as many as you can think of) |
- I've wanted to go since I heard of it over a decade ago. - If TOAST is only a fraction of the Burning Man experience, how could I not want to go. - No place like it anywhere else - A light at the end of the tunnel - Good people - Fun fun fun - A healing thing - The Playa - The Playa - The Playa |
Top 10 things you don't like about Burning Man:
(or as many as you can think of) |
It is all part of the experience. Flow with it. |
BurningMan Experience: |
It sounds so cliche... but absolutely and totally the truth.."Life changing." And it has been every time. The changes don't end when I see the playa in my rear view mirror. They stay with me. |
BurningMan Tips & Tricks: |
Brings extra pads for your Swiffer duster....at least one, just in case it gets a little nasty. Also don't forget the "Detail" kit for your car. You may want to give it a good once over if it gets a little dusty. A good screen house type tent is the only way to go because it will be really comfy and cool while everyone else s tent will be hot and stuffy... really. Bring lots of DVDs because the tv reception is horrible and you will need something to keep you entertained. A good tip is to record lots of episodes of your favorite soap opera to watch over and over while you are there and finally burning man sucks, don't go. |
Years you've gone to Burning Man and your "Burning Moments":
(these are when you say, "oh my god did you just see that" or when something unigue happened to you.)
|
2008 - Woke up and found the shape of my head perfectly outlined with at least a quarter inch of dust all over and around my pillow. The rest of everything inside the tent was covered with dust so thick you couldn't tell what color anything was... simply playa. My "oh my god thought?" .... the playa is so f'ing cool!
2009 - Early entry and late exit gave me my moments this year. To watch the city appear and then vanish was it. Oh, and maybe most of the time in between also. PP is an awesome camp. Thanks PP. |
