I am obsessed with three things on this earth: space exploration, music, and sex. I've been in the optics industry in some capacity since I was 15 years old. I worked on the largest telescope in Tucson (30" @ Tucson High), the largest telescope in the world (LBT @ Mt. Gram), and I helped design and build the Stereo Surface Imager on the Phoenix Mars Lander, among other things. By day I currently do optomechanical design, assembly, and testing for the medical industry. Not nearly as cool as putting stuff in space. That's me 9-5. At night, I gig regularly around Arizona, mostly in the Tucson area, with one of five bands I'm in. I also do studio recording work. I believe that looking at life through the eyes of a child is the only way to stay young! I love everything from live music to cooking and gardening. I definitely have a list of things I want/need to do during this next year and skydiving, getting more ink and immersing myself in another culture are on that list. I adore travel but dislike the touristy things...I'd much prefer to see how the locals live. I'm currently looking to learn to paint/draw or any other medium where I can express myself. I'm a free-spirit hippy type in many ways. I don't identify with any political party. My political beliefs/values: I feel like the point of being an American is personal freedom and so I'm against people telling me how I ought to live when I don't harm anyone. I guess that means I'm socially liberal. As far as economics goes, well, gee. I'm no expert, but I do know that social good creates individual good --sometimes. And sometimes the invisible hand knows what it's doing, but sometimes you run into those conditions Adam Smith mentioned where the invisible hand don't work so well. I'm really not sure where the balance ought to be when it comes to how to run the economics of this country or others, but I don't like when people think it's too simple or blanket blame particular populations. My philosophy: I'm an optimistic nihilist who's pretty happy there are no gods or masters. I'm into sustainable hedonism because that seems the most sensible and responsible option. I'm big on responsibility and weak on being ruled by rules. Rules can be good mind you. They simplify things so you don't have to calculate outcomes (and maybe mess up!) for things you feel like doing. But it's nice to be able to consider and sometimes subvert customs that don't serve one. -Mary |

Well traveled, out-going, ENPF (for those who understand MBTI), a "single" mom of two wonderful cat kids (but I like dogs too). I started going to BM with a friend in 2001 - we were newbies/virgins but had read everything possible on the web and were well prepared. It paid off as we had a great time. I've missed the last couple of years, but I'm headed to the playa again in 2007. How has BM changed me (they did warn us that it would)? I think I'm more open to almost anything - not that everything is right for me, but more that I accept that there are so many perspectives and possibilities and I believe in everyone's right to decide and experience for themself. I LOVE the art and the spiritual connections I find at BM. I am a criminal mastermind, masked by my deeply hypnotic and intertwining tales. My favorite flowers - daisies. My favorite shoes - converse. Jeans - bellbottoms. Color - Blue. Animal - platypus. My favorite food is ice cream, because I never get to eat it. I drink my coffee black with 8 lbs of sugar. I am prone to exaggeration. I swear like a sailor in a gigantimous fucking storm. I like to make up words like "gigantimous" and then act offended if you imply in any way that this is not a valid word. I am not an onion - I am not the layer cake that needs to be dug down into - I am a very simple person, and you will not know me better after ten years than you know me after ten minutes - but you will have heard all of my stories at least twice. I live a fabulously complicated life. I am crass, I am sarcastic, I am ungrateful - but I will love you like no one else in the world. I am unfailingly loyal. I am undone by my own honesty, often brutally so. I cheat in board games, even against little kids – but I do NOT cheat at Scrabble - I am just unbelievably rad. I like the word RAD, and will continue to use it until I die. I plan to fake senility early in my old age - so I can enjoy it thoroughly. I am a pyrotechnics freak. I am a grocery-cart racing champion. I will fake a seizure in the check out line, and I don't care if it embarrasses my kid. I think sock monkeys are hilarious. I have no shame. I once won the title of Best Girl-on-Girl Arm-Wrestler (Denny's Championship). I love to puddle-hop, and I don't care if it ruins my shoes. I am a chronic insomniac. I believe in aliens, and I aspire to one day be abducted. I am not a fan of midgets, or tuna from a can, or robots that are trained to do the jobs of people. I root for the underdog. I wish on shooting stars. I can survive on caffeine and nicotine alone. I live at ludicrous speed, and I talk in fast-forward... this only took me a minute to type.
